Alliance for Affordable Vision Care Applauds Decision Protecting Access to Affordable Vision Care

Ruling preserves Alliance principles of affordability, access, and empowerment for vision care patients  

ST. LOUIS, MO — February 23, 2026 — The Alliance for Affordable Vision Care (AAVC) applauds the decision by the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas that protects vision care patients’ ability to receive clear, accurate information about their vision coverage and lower-cost care options. 

The ruling prevents aspects of a Texas law that would have restricted how information about participating providers and available savings could be shared with patients. The AAVC believes informed patients are empowered patients who deserve access to transparent, accurate information so they can make decisions about their own care. This ruling helps support patients having access to the information they need to make the best choice for themselves and their families.  

“We applaud this decision as it keeps patients first,” said Rich Schindehette, president of the Healthy Vision Association, and member of the Alliance, “Vision care patients deserve straightforward, factual information about how to use their vision benefits. When families have access to information about all their options, they can make choices that benefit their health and finances.”
