Federal Policy Issues

Legislative proposals on vision care plans could increase out-of-pocket healthcare costs for you and your family.

The proposed H.R. 1521, the Dental and Optometric Care (DOC) Access Act, while well-intentioned as a measure to empower doctors, could directly harm consumers by increasing their out-of-pocket healthcare costs.

This shift could lead to unanticipated, significantly higher bills for common procedures and potentially force insurance companies to raise premiums, ultimately placing a greater financial burden on patients.

S. 1716, the Vision Lab Choice Act

The Vision Lab Choice Act would jeopardize the ability to maintain costs and efficiency. The current centralized system allows them to negotiate greater discounts and keep premiums lower. It is also necessary for Quality Control, ensuring a standardized level of quality for all vision materials. This could all be at risk if the bill becomes law.
