What’s going on in Maryland?

The 2026 Maryland State Legislative Session has adjourned, and SB 795 did not advance. While the bill is no longer active, similar proposals may be reintroduced in future sessions.

Potential impacts on consumers:

  • Limits on how plans manage provider networks could reduce your options

  • Vision care could become more expensive for you and your family

  • Limiting consumers’ right to know which providers and products provide the best value. At a time when budgets are tight, consumers should be empowered with information to make the best decisions about their care

It's important to keep an eye on legislation to help ensure vision care remains affordable and accessible for Maryland residents. Staying informed can help ensure  Alliance for Affordable Vision Care voices are reflected if similar proposals are considered in future sessions.
