What’s happening in Louisiana?

The 2026 Louisiana State Legislative Session has adjourned, and SB 404 passed. This legislation, now called Act 384, will affect vision care in the state.  

Impacts on consumers:  

  • Vision care could become more expensive for you and your family 

  • Limit discounts available through eye care providers 

  • Make it difficult to determine which providers and products offer the best value for your budget 

While Act 384 is now law, efforts to protect affordable, accessible vision care continue. You can help by joining the Alliance for Affordable Vision Care, contacting your state legislator to share how affordable vision care impacts you, and subscribing to our newsletter to stay informed about future proposals and opportunities to take action.
